Belt Testing

Belt Testing is scheduled based on recommendation of instructor. For a student to advance to the next belt level they must successfully pass a standardized test which consists of vocabulary, kicks, punches, blocks, and techniques appropriate for their age and skill level. They must also demonstrate excellence in character, displaying a constant willingness to learn, emitting a positive attitude, obeying the rules inside and outside of the school, and abiding by the code of conduct.

The student must pass all components of the test to be eligible for promotion.

The American Karate Academy uses the following belt system:

Beginner Intermediate Advanced
White
Green
3rd Brown
Yellow
Purple
2nd Brown
1st Brown
Black

Intermediate belt Stripes are awarded as recognition to a student who demonstrates proficiency and continued advancement in skills, techniques, and attitude, toward their next level of belt.
